OPERATION

The Model RC is an actuator that OPENS AND CLOSES the valve on compressed gas cylinders such as chlorine and sulfur dioxide ton containers.

The actuator is battery-operated with an electric motor that rotates the valve stem toward open or closed position for alignment, tests, and remote operation. The actuator is designed to mount without interfering with container mounted hardware such as chlorinators, regulators etc. No yoke modifications or additional adaptors are required.  The motor, gears, and controls are assembled as one unit.

FEATURES

The system includes a remote power supply enclosure for trickle charge of the SLA battery.   Engaging the actuator is accomplished by using the alignment procedure incorporated into the integral microprocessor.  Monitor and controls are accomplished with the microprocessor and integral LED lights for CLOSED, ALIGN, and OPEN.  Setup is accomplished through an integral keypad.  Valve position is transmitted to the microprocessor from a direct-coupled potentiometer.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

The Model RC actuator is packaged as an independent actuator that opens and closes the cylinder or container valve by using an integral membrane keypad.  The actuator mounts to the valve independently from any hardware that may be mounted to the valve.   The Model RC-TVR is designed to fit the gas valve on a ton container when a vacuum regulator is mounted on the valve.   A 30-foot 3-wire shielded signal cable is included with an AMP connector that attaches to the actuator.  The loose end of the cable is terminated in the Model RPS006 or RCP006RC for battery power and a close signal that is created by a remote contact from another device, such as a leak detector or panic button. 

The Model RC-TVR shipping carton is 10” x 10” x 10”, weighs 10 pounds, and includes actuator, 30-foot cable, storage bracket and instruction book.

The Model RPS006B is a remote power supply with automatic charger, 12 volt battery, and terminals to power up to six actuators mounted in a NEMA 4X enclosure.  Terminals are also included for signal wire from remote dry contacts to close the actuators.  Cables for actuators are furnished with each actuator and are supplied with a CGB connector for sealed entry into this enclosure.  Mounting holes and cable entries are created by the installer.

The Model RPS006B with shipping carton is 24” x 18” x 12” and weighs 25 pounds.

ACCESSORIES

The Model LD100-0 is a remote leak detector and is powered by a 24 volt source such as the battery in the RCP006RC remote control panel for the actuators.  The leak detector has a contact closure that will close all actuators if the ambient air contains chlorine or sulfur dioxide.  Alarm points are adjustable in increments of 1 PPM from 1 to 7 PPM.  The enclosure is NEMA 4X and includes a power light, alarm light, and acknowledge pushbutton to clear the output contact closure.  Mounting holes and cable entries are created by the installer.

The Model LD100-0 with shipping carton is 7” x 7” x 7” and weighs 2 pounds.  The leak detector and instruction book are included.

The Model RCP006RCB is an optional control panel for Model RC actuators.  This control panel has battery for Model RC, optional second battery for leak detectors, charger, and terminals for six actuators.  The enclosure includes a power light, input/output isolation relay, and panic button for operator interface.  As an option, this control panel can supply power for up to 10 Model RC actuators.
