AUTOMATIC CONTROL FOR CYLINDER AND CONTAINER VALVES

OPERATION

The Model RC is an actuator that OPENS AND CLOSES the valve on compressed gas cylinders such as chlorine, sulfur dioxide, and ammonia cylinders and containers.

The actuator is battery-operated with an electric motor that rotates the valve stem toward open or closed position for alignment, tests, and remote operation. The actuator is designed to mount without interfering with cylinder mounted hardware such as chlorinators, regulators etc. No yoke modifications or additional adaptors are required. The motor, gears, and controls are assembled as one unit.

FEATURES

The system includes a remote power supply enclosure for trickle charge of the SLA battery. Engaging the actuator is accomplished by tilting the actuator, resting actuator on valve and repositioning to the same plane as the valve stem. Monitor and controls are accomplished with a microprocessor and integral LED lights for CLOSED, ALIGN, and OPEN. Setup is accomplished through an integral keypad. Valve position is transmitted to the microprocessor from a direct-coupled potentiometer.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

The Model RC actuator is packaged as an independent actuator that opens and closes the cylinder or container valve by using an integral membrane keypad. The actuator mounts to the valve independently from any hardware that may be mounted to the valve. A 30-foot 3-wire shielded signal cable is included with an AMP connector that attaches to the actuator. The loose end of the cable is terminated in the Model RPS006 for battery power and a close signal that is created by a remote contact from another device, such as a leak detector or panic button. The enclosure body can be rotated on the actuator base by 180 degrees to accommodate mounting two actuators on a ton container simultaneously. The gear drive alignment arm can be rotated in 90 degree increments to accommodate various mounting requirements. When remote open and close is required, the actuator can be modified with the RA901 radio transceiver kit to accept radio signals from the Model RCP016RF remote control panel. The kit and control panel must be purchased separately.
The Model RC shipping carton is 12" x 6" x 6", weighs 8 pounds, and includes actuator, 30-foot cable and instruction book.
